The Book of the Future has disappeared

Big Brother was content with simply rewriting history; the BBC seems to have wiped out our future! Did I miss the anouncement or did someone just pull the plug??

A lot of very good articles didn't make it into the book that was eventually published, but were still available for reading online. There were also some very interesting conversations on the site. A large part of this has now, it appears, gone forever leaving those of us who were members of what was a very congenial (because it was very small, probably), if short-lived, community with just a few happy memories.
The BBC has a long history of casually deleting things that later become regarded as important or interesting, despite their self-image of preserving historical documents - h2g2 beware!!

It appears that this was just a software problem and the Book will eventually reappear. Apologies to the BBC for suggesting anything nefarious
