Entry deleted - not recoverable

From my records, A541180 is mine, but appears to have been deleted in such a way that I can't "uncancel" it or (more to the point) view the source. Could this be fixed? I just want to edit it to point to the place I've moved the information.

Thanks.

Should show the list of your cancelled entries, providing that you are the main author (and not an additional author without editing rights)

I can't check to see if it is on the list, only you can as that link goes to your hidden entries.

Thanks for the help, Mort. However, it doesn't show on my list of cancelled entries. I am the original author. I expect the mis-deletion is a result of a moderation gone wrong - some time ago, in all likelihood.

One more thing - A839478 is what I intend to replace the article with: I'm not planning anything subversive - just want to give people a link to where they can find more information.

Strange as it doesn't have the usual moderators note on it - just deleted by author smiley - erm

Sorry can't think of anything else.

Oops, I mean the equivalent of A839478, of course - but with the link changed appropriately. Darn the lack of an edit button.

This entry was removed last year after a request from BBC Editorial Policy (see the announcement here: F77636?thread=299215 ).

We appreciate that the message on the page is confusing, as the author didn't in fact delete the entry, we did. Unfortunately, that message is linked to the same automated emssage that would appear had the author removed it.

Ah, that explains it then.

My little brain was getting confuzzled smiley - winkeye

Ahh, that's reminded me what caused this.

Nevertheless, I would still like the ability to uncancel this page and replace its current misleading message with a pointer to the Edited version of the article, at A583580, and to a Wikipedia article I wrote with the aid of others on the same topic. Could this be arranged?

Thanks.

Hello Lucinda,

Thank you for your suggestions. We have uncancelled the page, with a link to the Edited Guide version on the topic as requested. However, since we had to remove the original article, we cannot really agree to a link to a similar article on a different site either. Hopefully this removes the confusion.

Kind regards,

That's certainly an improvement. However, you appear to have left a link to Wikipedia's "geek code" article, which I assume is an oversight.

But the original Geek Code entry hasn't been deleted, has it? Not the same thing at all.

Jim, I think you misunderstand me.

See A541180 - Molotov Cocktails. It currently reads:

----
The version of this entry that resides in the Edited Guide can be seen at A583580.

* _Geek_code_
----

Now, the Geek Code has no relevance to Molotov Cocktails, so it's non-ideal that you have added a link from this pointer entry on Molotov Cocktails to a Wikipedia article on the Geek Code.

My suggestion is that you remove this link from A541180 - or allow me to edit the entry so I can do so myself.

Thanks
