As an old BBC WW2 member who had a h2g2 page, I did as requested and signed up to this site. Given a new number and page I find it naked as the new born, zilch, nothing. I understnad that our old h2g2 pages will also close down in time so does that mean all my old page vanishes.
Do I give up one of the pages and if so can all the postings on the other page be transferred???????

"I think you have registered instead of 'signing in' to HooToo.

To be able to participate in The Guide, you only have to sign in, still using the same old account as you have been using on ww2. This 'signing in' is only a confirmation you read the 'local' house rules for beeing a Researcher.

There is (probably, I still have to chack it) a message on your Personal Page with the option to change your registration from ww2 to h2g2.

You can however just copy links to your articles from ww2. By putting them in a Journal or on the Personal Space.

You need to find the Anumber, like A2280467 (just one of my entries) and use that in a LINK tag for GuideML -ed page.

Traveller, can you do us a favour? I know you've trying to be very helpful, but your 'unique' writing style might make this a very difficult process for our new friends from WW2. Can you leave this part of feedback to us for a bit? Ta.

Hi Remefrankmee,

Could you tell us which account you wish to use on h2g2? We can, if you wish, move your old WW2 page over very easily, or, if you want to leave that archived, your new h2g2 account will allow you to carry on as before.

Just let us know what you'd like us to do and we'll sort that out as soon as possible.

Jimster,
Sorry you have to work when ill but thanks. I would rather keep my old account with all the friends and stories. I was told this account would also close in time which is why I went to the new account as advised, obviously duff info.
There is no rush now I know I can still use the old account, get well soon.

Hi Frank,

Try logging into your old account now. It *should* be on h2g2 with all the trimmings. smiley - smiley

And apologies for the confusing advice here - the WW2 team were concerned that the migration process might be too tricky for some people and very kindly didn't want to put a lot of work on our shoulders. If any of your old friends from WW2 need help migrating, send them over to us here, and we'll do our best to help (within normal working hours).

And don't fret about me working while off sick. It's only a cold, but I didn't want to make everyone else in the office poorly smiley - smiley

Thanks Jimster,
If you have got it share it among friends is an old army motto, I drew the line at VD.
I think if you knew the trouble the BBC had with us old bats you would not be so quick to welcome us in I am one of the young ones 77 this month b ut boy can we stir things up in our own way.
Heed the warning and thanks for the help,

Then there's that other motto - no-one gets left behind. It's a privilage to have you with us, Frank.

Once we get everyone settled in, we'll be looking at organising tours around h2g2 to find the areas that might interest you all the most, but if you're keen to explore on your own, go to the 'My Preferences' option in the options menu and make sure you've got your preferences set to Brunel. It just makes it a lot easier for us to know where to point you.

Once you've done that, click the 'What is h2g2?' link in the left-hand margin and you'll be able to follow the tour of the site smiley - smiley
