A BIG Match
Mu Beta Started conversation Apr 28, 2003
OK, a couple of draws started off the month; we drew Grimsby away in the third round of the FA Cup and Southport away in the second round of the LDV Vans trophy.
On to football: A narrow 1-0 squeaker against Darlington (Titania) was marred by Psychocandy breaking a toe. Madent scored a hat-trick for the reserves and was promptly promoted to the reserves, at the expense of Ekki. A poor loss 1-2 (Titania again) to Cheltenham followed, but our next match saw excellent performances from all and sundry as we routed Halifax 4-1 (Perseus, Ellen, Oom, Master B [wha-hey!]).
Dolt's poor performances have seen him drop to the bench. Madent is now in the first team.
Our Boxing Day match was home to Oxford, and we obliged the fans with a comfortable 1-0 victory (Belle). New Years saw us take the trip to Plymouth where we scored three and held on for a 3-2 victory (Ellen, Flanker, Oom), leaving us top of the table.
Then came cup day. We took the trip to Grimsby, and played our socks off for a 0-0 draw. Sadly, Mother of God tried a bit too hard and got sent off (tut, tut). So we replay at home, but before that came the big news of the draw....

MANCHESTER UNITED AWAY! Possibly the biggest match we will ever play, if we beat Grimsby in the replay. Beckham, Scholes, Keane et al against h2g2. How exciting's that?
I think I'll leave it there as a bit of a cliffhanger. Somebody asked me for some leading scorer tables, so:
Oom Foofoo - 12
Ellen - 10
Perseus - 6
Dolt - 5
Titania - 4

Bob - you've played about 200 minutes all told. You generally come on a second-half substitute for one of our wingers, although I've played you through the middle as a substitute for Ellen before now. A couple of key crosses, but no goals as yet. Perhaps most interestingly, Leeds Utd. keep sending scouts to watch you play.
GD - Er, no. You're languishing in the Reserves, and until you play a bit better there, I'm not putting you back on the bench.

Is there any chance of a loan signing out to some other team so that I at least get a game?

Hmmm...OK, I'll make you available for loan.
But if no-one comes calling, you've only yourself to blame.

Ahem! I hope that smiley was meant to signify 'tickle'.
We'll have none of that in my team, thank you very much.
