Hey, hasn't a scout picked this entry up yet? What's the deal?

sprout in post 2 mentioned putting a link to the edited entry on the hobbit A877881. He's right. Also there's an edited entry on Tolkein A672022. and Sir Gawain and the Green Knight A532270. It would probably be a good idea to put in these links.

I forgot to reply to your comments on the heritage of world literature.
This is not taught enough... I believe the classics (mythology especially) should be compulsory in schools. You can learn more from them, and something more useful, than many other subjects. Quadratic equations are all very well but they teach you nothing about people. {And I'm speaking as someone with a degree in mathematics here ).

My father studied Milton in high school. I was an English graduate student before I covered it in the same depth. His Grade 10 English text book was like my first year University English text. And they say standards haven't gone down.

Your Guide Entry has just been picked from Peer Review by one of our Scouts, and is now heading off into the Editorial Process, which ends with publication in the Edited Guide. We've therefore moved this Review Conversation out of Peer Review and to the entry itself.
If you'd like to know what happens now, check out the page on 'What Happens after your Entry has been Recommended?' at EditedGuide-Process. We hope this explains everything.
Thanks for contributing to the Edited Guide!

I get the opinion you're in the US anhaga (correct me if I'm wrong, please ). I'm in Scotland and standards are very similar here... I never read much Iliked at school. I had to go to the library and find it stuff for myself.

I'm not going to enter into any long rant about how much Canadians hate being mistaken for Americans. I'll just refer you to the "Do Yanks hate Canucks" thread F19585?thread=261800. More importantly, I'll invite you over to the "Chief Gordon Lightfoot" thread F19585?thread=252800 which I started as a place for Canadians to meet (although we invite and welcome everyone to the thread, just like we do to our country).
So, no, I'm not in the U. S. How are things over there in England? That's a joke intended to further make my point. My maternal ancestory a great many generations back is from the Black Isle and Kilmuir Easter. My father's side (way back again) got run out of Glenelg for being Campbells. () So, I know you're not in England.

oooops..... I fell into something I promised I'd never do.
Quick story: when I was travelling in Australia last year and I met anyone from your side of the Atlantic I always asked "Where you from? Canada? The States?" It always worked... Canadians liked "Canada" first and Americans didn't seem to mind.
So, please accept my heartfelt apologies. I have a couple of good Canadian friends who'll crucify me if this gets out....
Peace?

It's okay. It's hard to tell accents online.

Hi deemikay, anhaga,
I've been given your fabulous Scottish-Canadian collaborative effort to subedit, and I'm nearly finished with it. It's at A1012492; if you spot something that needs attention, please drop me a note.

Hi SchrEck
This seems fine to me... the only thing I'd maybe suggest is maybe putting the poet back in the title... perhaps "Wodwo - a poem by Ted Hughes"?

I'd have to agree. "wodwo - the poem" sounds like there's a destinction being made, like there might also be a "wodwo - the album" and a "wodwo - the movie". In fact, the only other "wodwo" is "wodwo - the obscure middle english word" and that one gets explained in the entry. I vote for putting mr. hughes back into the title.

Hi folks,
in fact I changed the title just because of the recent discussion (two days ago) in the SubEd's Y!group regarding titles. Anna said it's always
'film/book/whatever title' - the film/book/whatever
and she also updated the writing guidelines (<./>Subeditors-Style</.>in that fashion. ATM, I tend to return the entry as it is but to alert Anna about your concerns. Perhaps she decides to overrule herself and changes back the title...
Apart from that, I'm glad you liked the Edit.
