Should we start nominating the entries for inclusion yet, or are we still baby-stepping?
Is THAT hyphenated

I am... I've even started help Smudger with a bit of DIY sub-edding...

Well I've done nothing. Do miners have to sub? I know it's very optional (I'd wager that optional status will go away when we're on our feet) but I can't spell, and as you can see I have hyphen troubles!

Jodan - you are right, that the first six are: Deidzoeb, fwt, me, Spiff, Waz and GTB.
Waz and I have bowed out. None of the others have, but from private conversations I have had with GTB, I know that while he still wants to be able to help run that account he is aware of other commitments he has this year which will take him away from the Underguide.
GTB has not bowed out, but the count is running at about three and a half users.
My personal opinion, knowing the personalities involved, is that it will work just fine.

I would also like to help run, though I also will have more commitments at the second half of the year, through my US trip and starting uni. I won't be bowing out completely, though my visits to the site may reduce.
So perhaps two and two half users?

This is all very complicated, with the simulposts, the bowing out and the numbers... oh the numbers. I asked Amy and am waiting for a response by the way

Amy waved to all the UG people. She said we should "put it off until we have a realistic chance of a badge being produced"
So there you go. When are we going to start getting the ball rolling? I'm bored. This process would be quicker if we had a central editing figure...

I think the next move belongs to the Italics. As I imagine they are rather busy at the moment, we may have to wait a little while longer before the scheme becomes active.

Thank you for your understanding everyone... rest assured that the UG has not been forgotten.

True to my word, I started work on the categories A1007876. If fwt would give me his Email, I'd get his help. So there you go
By the way, whats our position on swearing? It seems like it should be very simple. If the swearing is part of the ambience, essencse or mood of the piece it should be allowed, mostly because the UG allows for more creativity than the EG.

Deidzoeb Posted Mar 29, 2003
I say we allow any swearing by default, and let the Italics decide what they'll find acceptable and what they won't. That way we don't have to decide on a list of acceptable words, unacceptable words, and special considerations that make swearing acceptable. And we'll obviously have the maximum freedom allowable by the Italics.
Flip you, melon farmer!

I'll be damned if we haven't done this before!
(Just kidding!)
How about any instances of swearing be replaced by made-up curses along the vein of Yosemite Sam. I'll be consarned if that ain't a good idea!
Alternately, we could get the tv censors who tried to replace the almost constant swearing in an Emilio Estevez movie called "Repo Man". At one point in the movie, Harry Dean Stanton lets out a blast of several curses in a row. The words dubbed over it were something like "Dad-blasted, blaz-verdigid melon farmers! Shoot!" Most of the lead characters tell each other "Flip you, melon farmer" at some point in the movie.

Oh I like that .
If you want serious answers I agree with posts 94 and 65.

Seems quiet lately down in the tunnels... possibly a signal that we can move on. Have we exhausted discussion on these last bits of unfinished business? Could we end discussion and bring things to a vote, or do we need more discussion?
Key: Complain about this post
