Due to some major mailing confusion on my part, I still don't have my book. Basically I had my book sent to my fiancé's apartment and he stopped his mail because he went out of town for a couple of weeks. Unfortunately I inadvertantly found out who died and I'm really not happy about finding out and about who it is. So...I'm looking forward to actually getting to read it.

Johanna the Psychotic Bananna - - I'm back!!! I missed you, H2G2 Posted Jun 28, 2003
but surely they had jobs too?

DJR Posted Jun 28, 2003
yeh Dumbledore, McGonagall, Hagrid, Snape etc. are all in the Order, but they're occupations are TEACHERS. Being in the Order isn't an occupation.

Anarane Posted Jun 29, 2003
You're right, they probably have jobs too so maybe we will find out in books 6 or 7.
When I wrote that article, they were NOT my ideas, I got them from the ideas of others on the internet, from the official HP site, BBC Newsround or Newspapers ect. I didnt say that these things would definately happen, not intentionally at least.
Anyway, What were your views on the book and what were your thoughts on the character who died? I don't know why but I wasn't as upset when the person died in book 5 as I was when Cedric died in book 4. And I think thats odd considering I liked the person who dies in book 5 a lot more. They were one of my faves.
Did anyone else keep feeling frustrated when Harry kept getting angry?

i got p*ssed off with harry cos he was getting p*ssed off over the smallest thing - it was gd when he felt guilty afterwards.
i bet he isn't dead - there's something about the fact that no1 has seen his dead body that just suggests to me that there's some twist...

Good point, I think what Luna Lovegood had something to do with it. She said that he wasnt really gone or something like that but i still dont fully understand the "veil" part so im going to read that bit again. Another thing Im confused with is how did he actually die? Was he pushed or something?
I think Fred and George brought great humour to the book which was what was needed with Harrys outbursts of anger and frustration.

i know what you mean. he is my favourite character, but cedric's death was sadder, and i had to re read it to realise what actually happened in this book.
i dont think this one is as good as goblet. but what i love about this one it that up til now we've been given characters to hate from a distance, lockheart is smug and annoying, voldemort we are told to hate, but you can really come to LOATHE umbridge. she just get so much on my nerves. rowling has an impressive talent.

Lockhart is smug but i cant help liking him, especially in this book because he's so hopeless and like a child's mind when he boasts of learning up joined up handwriting! I think because of this he's more cute than annoying!
We love Fred and George even more because of what they do to Umbridge and I disliked Harry when he kept getting angry at the smallest thing.

yeah i know! I know he's been through a lot but he could at least stop taking his anger out on ron and hermione who have stood by him for 4/5 years! harry should remember he has no other friends outside hogwarts!
whos your fave character? Snape rocks!

listen up,
this is about how sirius died.
As neasrly headless nick explains, when wizaeds and witches die thery can either choose to come back as a ghost and hang around for eternity (even if all the people in the earth died they would still have to stay there for ever) or they can choose to "pass on" into the unknown. No-one knows what this other choice is and nearly headless nick sadly explains that he does not know because he didn't choose it. The veiled arch in the ministry of magic was a doorway through to the mysterious second choice. That is wherever people go when they die can be reached through the veil. This explains the whispering on the other side (all the dead people). It only works one way so that whie anyone can walk though and visit the dead, dead people cannot come out. If you walked through it however, you would die because only dead people can be on the other side. Sirius did not die because of a deadly curse, it was only a stunning spell or something that pushed sirius over (through the veil, killing him). That is why he died. I would like to point out that he would not have felt himself die because he was had not been killed or wounded, his life had just been taken away (similar to the avada kedavra curse). If you were to walk through the veil, this is what you would experience. You would go through the veil and see the dead people. You would not notice any change to yourself and woud feel exactly the same. You would be dead though. When you tried to return you would not be able to go back through as the veiled arch is only one way. Sirius would have been hit by a curse, fallen on his back, gotten up to rejoin the fight only to find that he could not go back because he was dead. i imagine he would be quite upset which is why i feel so sorry for his character, being unable to help all of a sudden.
