Sorry to barge in but I need to ask a PR/editing question and either of you'll do Let's imagine you write an entry and angle it a certain way and title it to make people think of something - say.... freedom of expression in the Middle East (hypothetically, mind..) and the entry's picked (Yay) and it's edited (doubleYay)- and the only significant change is that it is turned into a semi-biography by changing the title What can you do about it? Is it important? Should it be raised? and who would you raise it with? Or do you just leave it be and go on to the next entry?

Who changed the title, Wilma? Do you know?
If you really object to something about the editing you can object and the eds do listen, but I can't say they will change anything, just that they would consider it.
Do let us know how it turns out...(links as well)

Thanks Annie (and I think TPTB moved the thread <winkeye)
I only queried this entry title thingy because really *nothing* else has been changed - *just* the title. When I first put it in PR, it was mostly to do with freedom of speech and blah. I don't think it changed all that much - so I guess I don't understand why the title change? I'll have to pluck up courage at some point I guess. There isn't much point now as it's pending... or is there? I still feel like a newbie and I've been here a few months
Ah well...
Thanks for answering, Annie

Don't worry W, I still get spoken to like a newbie, and I've been here 5 years (well nearly 5 years ).
And I had the thread moved as I thought here was an appropriate place for this discussion, just to see if anyone else in the know could help you out

Wilma, just email the eds:
[email protected]
and ask them why the title change.
They won't bite, they'll be polite and respectful, and you'll get your answer.

MJ, as this is a PR thread, may I ask you how to deal with peeps commenting in PR who obviously are carrying half of Kilimanjaro on their shoulder. You know e by now - pretty non-confrontational but I am lurking in a thread that is really starting to get on my assets. The offender is a smart person and is very active on here, as well as being an 'oldie' where I am a newbie. The sarcasm is making me very angry as it is discourtous, unhelpful and quite frankly uncalled for. What would you do?

hmm, this is exactly what I created this page for: A9741972
If you feel like having a head to head, do it there
Otherwise...what would I do? I used to be in the same boat you did. But then I thought, it, nothings going to change if people don't say something. So, my first line of attack would be to approach the person you think is being a little too aggressive. You could even say, "As a relative newbie to Peer Review I've found some of the comments being made are making me very angry, as the sarcastic tone is discourtous, unhelpful and quite frankly uncalled for."
and you could add more like,
"yada has worked hard on the Entry and while the comments being made may be helpful, I feel that they are a little inappropriate for Peer Review. If it continues it could well put off the author from submitting further work. If you feel the need to discuss things further, why not go here; A9741972 It doesn't help the author or the Entry to be so confrontational."
Just be pleasant at first. If that doesn't work tell them to pull their head in.

I have my suspicions of whom you refer to anyway, and if I'm correct, there have been numerous problems in the past
