I enjoyed reading this. I'm a violin student, but have many friends who have played the Bach Cello Suites, and I enjoyed learning some about them, particularly the structure. Just a few typos and general editoral things I noticed (words mis-typed are corrected in capital letters)
"The were written for one of hte court cellists,..." should probably read
THEY were written for one of THE court cellists,
"..each dance movement is explored so fully by Bach that by the end, he has used these structures to express deep and profound emotion. "
The comma after "by the end" is uneccessary...
each dance movement is explored so fully by Bach that by the end he has used these structures to express deep and profound emotion. Same thing applies to the comma in this sentence...
" No manuscript exists, and so the suites were lost for many years."
and the one after it.
"Although movements were used as teaching excercises by Klengel and Duport, they were not perfomed as pieces until the Spanish cellist Pablo Casals rediscovered them early this century."
Otherwise, very nice. And looking at your other conversations in the MuG, I do agree with their advice too. It's worth editing up and getting it into the guide.
