The mech warrior games actually had five parts...well sorta...the fifth was a game called G-Nome and was created after the first game but before the second mech warrior...
The game includes the ability to use the same controls as mech warror 1 but not 2(or maybe it was 2 and not 3 I can't exactly remember...and I really don't feel like looking...) which leads me to beleive that it came when it did...
Also on one of the levels the mechs, which are refered to as Hawks in this game, are actually reffered to as mechs. Not to mension the similarities in looks.
The game gets it's name from the horrible weapon that you are trying to destroy. It is a genetic alteration of human POW's in the war for a star system.
Anywho...felt that I should just share this knowledge with you.

oh and the game was not part of the Mech Warrior story line but it was similar and, as I said, at times apearently confused with.
