Dear A96888 - I have a male friend who noticed a pattern in his life. The women he didn't find very attractive were the ones chasing him. The women he wanted kept him hanging just for the fun of it. He decided to experiment by changing his behavior. He stopped calling the second group or was aloof when with them - so they pursued him. When he acted interested in the first group, they lost interest. He found it so depressing he gave up dating for over a year, to ponder the issue. But it happens to women too. Good women are far too often attracted to bad boys. It's self-destructive, illogical and as hard to resist as a hot fudge sundae. In my own case, I've tended to be a rescuer, saving a series of men who had been a) divorced, b) fired, c) abused as children, d) used by other women, or e) make up any combination of the above. As soon as I had them feeling better about themselves, they invariably left me, normally for a married women, drug user, stripper, etc., etc. I've taken time off, too. I've managed to avoid the last two tempting victims life threw at my feet. I also avoid throwing myself at anyone else's feet. I am concentrating on making the best of myself. Perhaps when I stop settling for less, when I truly believe I only deserve the best, the best is what life will offer. Just a thought.
