13 Month calendar

On behalf of the "C'mon people let's get it together and have a Standard 13 Month Calendar Committee", dedicated to the establishment of a 364 day/solar-calendar year having 13 months of 28 days each, I am happy to inform you that we are quite pleased with your design submission.

You seem to have captured the layout for a 4-weeks-per-month and seven-days-per-week format quite handily, and the committee is seriously considering adopting your basic design as a standard for all our 13 months calendars. We were particularly impresssed by Day 12 where Anubi seems to be banging his head on the upper bar of the box square.

But then, the 27th, being blank, inspired one of our number to doodle for his own purposes. It worked a treat and we now plan to expand this capacity to include all 28 days. This of course was entirely our idea and therefore is really nothing like what you submitted.

But, to avoid any potential copyright issues and any ongoing battle with your legal represenatives, we wish to inmform you that we will be erasing all the decorations and doodles you drew in the squares and leave them blank in our version. This will allow room for all other persons to make notes of special occassions, dental appointments, anniversaries, etc.

If necessary we will also give you credit in a disclaimer which will read, "Wowbagger drew these boxes so you can fill in your own stuff. No one can be held responsible for items left over 30 days".

I'll get your analysts to talk to my analysts.

Thank you for your thoughts about my proposal. I have read them with great interest, until I realised what you were talking about. The truth learned, I am able to reply with more authority.

It is interesting that you noticed it was indeed a calendar - something that others have obviously missed. Full marks for you.

There are other aspects about it though that you have failed to grasp however.

The graphic is ordered vertically rather than horizontally, which means the '4-weeks-per-month and 7-days-per-week format' that you have mentioned is in fact a '7-weeks-per-month and 4-days-per-week format' if you look carefully. This is to introduce my scheme of 7 weekends in a month. I think it has merit though there have been some (mainly employers) that have argued against it. With successful lobbying though, I shall turn them around.

It has come to my attention as well that people rarely use calendars for writing anything in. Those who do use it to keep track of their busy schedules usually complain about them. That's why I'm proposing that the dates are to be put in the margins between the boxes, rather than in them, the theory being that, the less meetings etc you write on a calendar, the less you attend, thus giving everyone much more free time on their hands. Hence the 'doodles' in the spaces. I thought that a person of your stature would have picked up on this immediately. Perhaps you were to busy to notice.

Again thank you the "C'mon people let's get it together and have a Standard 13 Month Calendar Committee" for giving people such as myself the opportunity to do the sorts of things that we do. Please do not hesitate to do more of those things that you do. Whatever they may be.

Do I get my grant?

Yours In Peace And Coolness
Wowbagger
