A Conversation for Talking Point - Your Greatest Hits on h2g2
I waved to an old researcher!

So much could be said. But for now I'll just copy my latest journal entry.

Two years ago today I made what might be the most important post I've ever made in my time at h2g2, actually it might be one of the most important things I've done in my life!
DNA had died a few days earlier and h2g2 was suddenly crowded with new researchers. I signed up as an Ace to help greet all the newbies. (We were really needed, I got my badge only few minutes after applying!)
Of course all the old researchers were sad about what had happened and at the same time glad to see so many new people. I noticed that Witty Moniker had added "*waves to the new researchers*" to her name, and decided I would tease her a little. I went to her page and started F43217?thread=113709 - *waves to an *old* researcher*.
One of the new researchers had also seen WM's greeting and came to say thanks for it. She posted to the thread I had started. When she needed help with the Guide, I was ready to give Guru advice.
Today I've been living with her for eight months.
Today someone else gets the keys to my old flat in Denmark.
Thanks DNA for this place and all what you did.
Thanks Witty for waving!
Thanks sunny for... everything!
And happy h2g2 birthday!
Thanks h2g2!!!

- Have you made some really good friends on h2g2?
Ottox!
as I used to be online only from w*rk I tried to keep my time on h2 low(ish)... now we've got a computer, but for some obscure reason it's usually occupied
and I find it quite frustrating to know that so many people on h2 are living so far away that the probability to ever meet them is really small. 'but then, what does probability know about h2?'
most of the other people here I'm in contact with I know from lurking on Ottox or meeting them in RL.
waiting for teleporting to finally be accessible...
- Have you found romance, a partner or even got married because of life on h2g2?
yep
- Have you been a shoulder to cry on and helped a fellow Researcher to work through their problems?
not as far as I know. the occasional and often the feeling that words and smileys aren't enough to really help - but maybe I'm wrong?
on the receiving end I was _very_ glad to have found h2 (even if it was for the sad reason of DNA's death). RL wasn't as easy as I would have liked it at the time, so it was wonderful to have a place I could forget about it - and a place that showed me that other people had their problems to deal with, too.
- Have you learned something new?
mainly how addictive h2 can be
- Are you more interesting because of h2g2?
probably not. but my life is
- Have you been inspired to do something special as a result of time spent on site?
yep living together with my
- Have you made some big life decisions because of h2g2?
see above
- Have you written an entry that you're really proud of?
Ottox' happy 2years birthday 'card'
- Have you ... spread your peace vibes everywhere?
don't know
thank you to so many people for making h2 the fantastic place it is!
