A Conversation for Talking Point: Rent-Free Tropical Paradise

The Pacific Rim National Park in British Columbia has rocky promontories and long, white sand beaches in and around it. I want a little weatherbeaten house on the edge of the world and the park with a wall of books, a telescope, and a bag for beachcombing. No shoes, except in the very dead of winter. The dry beach there is called the *Singing Sands* because when you scuff your feet hard in the sand, it chirps. Abundent seafood, passing ships, and whales, and not to many tourists. The storm season is breathtaking. (Don't tell anyone!) In the mean time, I get there every chance I can, which is usually twice a year- in the heat of summer and the wave-crashing, windswept winter. Luckily it is only a four hour drive and 45 minute ferry ride for me.
