Man, you would not believe how long it took to write this. Any episode references would be greatly appreciated.

Are you submitting this as an update to A315893 and A425882?
I think you need to proof this a bit more really. The actors' names are widely available if you look out for them.
(by the way, the original Buffy was played by Kristie Swanson)

There are some fairly major characters that have only a line or two about them. It would probably flow better if the characters were grouped together by series, with the Buffy characters listed first.
I think the character descriptions would flesh out the two entries Jimster mentioned.
Cheers!

If I grouped them by series, where would Angel, Cordelia, and Wesley go?

In a subsection on the Buffy entry, and in an update for the entry on Angel?
This might not be the best way to phrase this, but as the series of Buffy currently running in the US at the moment is very likely to be the last, wouldn't it be more prudent to wait before writing about the show?
Having seen right up to the most recent US-broadcast episodes of both series, I can say (without spoiling anything) that there are lots of events that seriously affect the main characters that you really would want to include in this entry once you've seen the episodes...

In both entries, as Jimster suggested. I'd describe their characters as they were in Buffy and then in the Angel section discuss how their characters have grown.
Cheers!

the seventh season may not be the last season of buffy, and i don't think this entry provides enough as an update of the other two, that are better as seperate entries, but i think probably do require updates at the end of each of their latest seasons.
this entry is really just a list of characters with a little information of each, something which i don't think is particularly needd in the EG.

Hi spook (and welcome back, mate),
I really hope this isn't the last series, but Anthony Head seems to think it is, the production team have intimated that it is, UPN have hinted that they want to ditch it and Sarah Michelle Geller's been quoted as saying she wants to move over into movies full time.
In fact, it's only Nick Brendan and James Marsters who really *really* want to carry on.
(and if what I think is going to happen actually happens, then it would make sense to finish it now really).
Having said all that, I get the impression that the idea to end the show was mooted when they thought Joss's other show, 'Firefly', might take off, so now that's been cancelled he might be forced to make a huge u-turn.

jimster - all the characters apart from anya (who leaves at the end of season 7) and sarah michelle gellar, have signed on for another year. smg hasn't decided what to do yet, and i have heard rumours of her signing on as a pat time deal like anthony head, doing about 9 episodes.
and btvs may continue without buffy, with there being a new slayer, or faith being the slayer.
there are so many possibilities, and i doubt this season will be the final end of buffy.

I sure hope not, but if Buffy ends, do you think Angel will carry on?

Some corrections to your 'First Seen'
Oz - Season 2, 'Inca Mummy Girl'
Tara - Season 4, 'Hush' (I think)
Dawn - Season 5, 'Buffy vs Dracula'
Anya - Season 3, 'The Wish'
Gunn - Angel S1, can't remember the ep title. A regular from S2
The Host is played by Andy Hallett
Groosalugg is played by Mark Lutz
Riley - Season 4, 'The Freshman'. Buffy's boyfriend from mid S4 to mid S5
Darla was first seen in the teaser for 'Welcome to the Hellmouth'
Kendra appears in the Season 2 episodes 'What's My Line? (parts 1 and 2) and 'Becoming (part 1)', at the end of which she is killed by Drusilla.
Faith - Season 3, 'Faith, Hope and Trick'
Wesley was appointed as Watcher to both Faith and Buffy after Giles was sacked (in 'Helpless'). He resigned from the Watcher's Council to help the Scoobies fight the Mayor in 'Graduation Day'.
There are a lot of sites around giving more details; http://www.buffyguide.com is a good one.
I agree with Jimster about waiting for the end of S7. There are a lot of suggestions that it will be the last. Personally I hope it will; much as I love the show, I want to see it go out on a high note, not fade into obscurity as so often happens to shows that go on too long. And the way the season is shaping up, it *would* make sense.

wesley never resigned, he got the sack, as he mentioned when he appeared in Angel. the watchers council wouldn't even pay for his ticket back to england.

"I sure hope not, but if Buffy ends, do you think Angel will carry on?"
Last I heard, the WB weren't guaranteeing that Angel would be renewed regardless of Buffy.

Well, as tipped, Variety magazine have announced today that Buffy the Vampire Slayer is no more. The piece quotes Joss Whedon as saying:
"We're not going to end it by saying, 'There can be no "Buffy" no more... But it definitely has a message of emotional and thematic closure that's as important as anything we've said."
As Spook mentioned earlier, all bar Emma Caulfield and Sarah Michelle Gellar have been contracted in the event of an eighth series, so I guess this means they'll be paid off, unless they decide to co-opt them into Angel, or a future additional spin-off.
I'd heard this before Christmas last year, but I wasn't sure whether or not they were going to confirm it or not. I'm really enjoying this current run of episodes, so I'm at least happy that it's ended now on a high, rather than potentially going on way past its best.
Sorry I haven't got a link directly into Variety online for this - it's password-protected, and I don't want us to be done for republishing the entire article.

Just this second learned that the current issue of Entertainment Weekly's running the same story. Here's a link to its front cover, from a Sarah Michelle fan site:

I just saw this in my local paper and I have mixed feelings. While I will be sad that one of the best shows in years will be coming to an end, I can fully understand why she might want to bring it to a close.

Looking at your use of smileys there, Gordon, I'm reminded of Johnny Vegas on Shooting Stars, for some reason
