Great stuff, Pinniped, though not the first time i've read it...
indeed, i went hunting through the AggGag archives in the mistaken belief that we'd featured it there, but that was your take on the Steel Industry,
This is a real cracker

Whoops put it in he wrong section.
excellent. Superb. A real insight into the male psyche! Where can I find the piece on steel?

hello hound,
if you click on pinniped's name (on the entry) then that'll take you to his u-space, and there you can peruse all his h2-writings at your lee-zure, .
Alternatively, and much more longwindedly, you could investigate the AggGag archives, where it resides among a host of other non-EG collected and collated over a year or so for a column in The Post...
but i'd go to the u-page if i were you,

Would that be 'useless hound' or 'boots'? Have to credit he latter to 'thy servant a dog'. Written by Boots, edited by Kipling. A serious hero.

Alternatively, you ask 'she-who-knows' from the Post Team and she remembers that many of Pinniped's fine offerings can be accessed through the Post Archives (General Features) and comes up with A643196 in around 5 seconds flat

Quite
Past items which have appeared in <./>ThePost</.> are easy for me to remember - new words and grammar I need to learn for my Dutch course are a completely different matter!

Hi Shazz,
I'd forgotten that Pinniped was also the author of that excellent entry,
Despite the fact that we tried to run it in one of the first AggGag issues only to find that you already had!
Have you seen the recent conversations about fun/non-EG/creative writing on h2g2?
hang on, i'll be back with a link or two if you like...

Yes, I'm watching, reading and digesting all of them at the moment, but am a little pushed for time to respond as yet.
I believe that we have some sort of 'History of The Post' item hanging about somewhere, but I need to track it down!
And yes, I had the pleasure of meeting Pinniped and his wonderful work way back in October 2001 and (apologies to AGG/GAG/CAC) featured many of his fine works in <./>ThePost</.>
I do have a feeling that all this current enthusiasm for non-eligible-for-the-edited-guide entries could be of great value to the future of The Post, CAC and The Guide in general, but really need to have time to evaluate the situation when slightly more sober and with more time than I have now.
I am, however, slightly alarmed to find that we are perceived as having a 'mission statement' - way back in 1999 the only aim, as far as I remember, was to entertain and inform.

Mmmmm. Lots of technical stuff for Boots to get head round. A couple of questions.
Do writers genuinely want to co-write? Or are they looking for constructive criticism? (I can understand comedy scripts being co-written as alternative input can be creatively exciting, but am never fully satisfied with co written fiction...Shibumi by Trevanian being a notable exception).
Could the post not have sub sections in the editorial? i.e
humour, fantasy, childrens, horror etc, allowing existing scouts to judge postings by genre and selecting the best/most interesting/ for inclusion?
I don't know. Will now go and trawl through guide again.
Take care
Boots
