Amfoot Trivia Question 0073
Blues Shark - For people who like this sort of thing, then this is just the sort of thing they'll like Started conversation Feb 3, 2003
OK, a pro-bowl question for pro-bowl week.
The pro-bowl records for single game rushing for both AFC and NFC were both set in the same year.
Name the backs, name the year.

I doubt Warner even went to '84 pro-bowl, actually. That was the year he broke his leg and we ran the ball by committee, if memory serves...

I suppose we're talking at cross terms cos I thought Warner / Dickerson led their conferences those years, in which case I meant the 85 PB.

Actually could never stand Dickerson for reasons beyond my dim & faded memory ...
However I think he's most likely to hold the records will have been set in the mid 80s as:
- passing became all the fad in the 1990s.
- Emmitt / Barry would have been splitting carries.
- a 70s rushing record would have been surpassed in the 80s.
- I think they used to take the game more seriously in terms of not just rotating all the players verbatim.
- they'll be held by players who hit a long run, which could be anyone with the right blocking.
All that said I'll take a different angle ... Dickerson / Greg Bell / 89.

Not them either. As to it being achieved by a long run, well, the AFC record is held by the holder of the longest average career gain in the pro-bowl...

Of course given that you've not actually been inducted I guess the 15 posts rule wouldn't apply yet, although you wouldn't want to p**s the organisers off, now would you?

Well this is 17, so i guess he can have a go now.
And that should have been 'longest average gain per rush in a career at Pro-Bowls...'

Which is absolutely and positively incorrect.
Right, I'm off home now, so argue amongst yourselves for an hour or so...

FF - how's your speech coming along?
Did I mention you'll need to provide 3 pieces of Trivia to donate to the Hall for visitors to read ...
And of course you may want to bring along a souvenir memento - say perhaps your "Miami Dolphins - AFC East Champions 2002" T-shirt?
I'll put a thread together with an induction timetable when I get a moment ...
