Amfoot Trivia Question 0070

Okay, another RB one...

O.J Simpson - 2003
Terrell Davis - 2008
Barry Sanders - 2053
Eric Dickerson - 2105

I'm sure you all recognise the stats, the question is which is the odd one out and why...? I have a specific answer in mind so if you happen across any other odd-one-out scenarios I haven't considered, you do not get the point...smiley - ok

To give you a head start, it has nothing to do with Simpson gaining his in only 14 games compared to 16 for the rest...

PS, anyone else doing this SB Trivia thing or not?

Barry Sanders - Detroit was never in a superbowl (though the Bills didn't make it until the 90s - and lost 'em all smiley - doh)

That's the only thing I can think of... smiley - erm

If you'd said Terrell Davis was the only one who went to the SB in his 2000 year, indeed at all, that would work...

But it's not the odd-one-out I'm looking forsmiley - winkeye

Next....smiley - smiley

Surely the odd one out is Terrell Davis for being the only one to have won a superbowl ring and run for 2,000 yards in the same season - in 1998, if memory serves me corrctly...

Eric Dickerson. He was the only one of the group who ran for 2000+ yards without an afro. The increased aerodynamics provided by his shaven head increased his speed, which is why he outgained the other 3.

Hmmm ... I got my SB history muddled again I guess. This is obviously trickier than that, methinks.

(grasping at straws) How about Terrell Davis for being the only one that didn't win a Heisman trophy?

Wow less than 4 hours and we get a clue ...

Dickerson was the only one not to get NFL MVP.

Or alternatively...

Barry Sanders was the only one to share MVP honors (with Brett Favre).

OJ won an Oscar for his acting in "The Naked Gun" and at his trial ...

Terrell Davis is of course the only one to have appeared in, and won a Super Bowl as well as MVP honours. I think he might even have been "Rookie of the Year".

I know Sanders was also RotY, so it can't be that. Hrm ... this is a tough one. I was waiting for another guess so I could take another whack at it, but I can't think of anything ... yet. smiley - erm

Of course, OJ has that strange double eligibility thing in his history - he won the Heisman in '67 <?>, but only came second the year he was drafted, '68 <?>.

But then again, Davis surely never got a sniff of the Heisman...

Is Davis the only one of the group *not* to have won the Heisman?

Sorry folks, I should keep up with the Q's I set!

BBS has already stated the correct answer... Despite getting the highest total amongst the four, and indeed the NFL record, Eric Dickerson is the only one who did not win or share the NFL MVP in the season he gained 2000 yards... that year the legendary Dan Marino was the recipient for 5000 yards 48 TD's and a 14-2 record...smiley - smiley

So BBS, point and beverage to you and your Q!
