Amfoot Trivia Question 0069
Bright Blue Shorts Started conversation Jan 29, 2003
Between 1977 and 1997 the NFL rushing title was won by 8 different running backs.
Walter Payton, Eric Dickerson, Barry Sanders and Emmitt Smith won 16 of these titles.
Four other backs won the title once each.
Taking a different slant to usual, the goodies will go to the person who is able to to name the last one (not chronologically, but after the other three have been named). So tread carefully, play tactically, blurt out all four if you think you know ...

Ohhh, meanie.
Let's try these then;
One season wonders Christian Okoye and Charles White. Marcus Allen must have won one.
Hmm, fourth. Earl Campbell?

Indeed four have been named ... except there was a 5th
So the point is now up for grabs to whoever can name him.
BS gets first chance at this one ...

And in fact I'm wrong. Only three of the five have been named. I'm getting myself confused.
Allen ('85), White ('87), Okoye ('89) are correct. Campbell is wrong.
The point will still go to the person naming the 5th.
I'm not sure whether BS gets first shot any longer as he couldn't have named all 5 on his 1st attempt anyway ... but he can have another go if he'd like.

%$£@~~£$$+**&%$ machine... would of had this ages ago if it didn't take 10 years to change pages...
anyway, the other two are Freeman McNeil in 82 and George Rogers in 81...
Amfoot Trivia Question 0069
Bright Blue Shorts Posted Jan 29, 2003
Indeed, it was they.
I made a severe hash of the question as even after my reworkings I was still wrong. Campbell in fact won three titles 78,79,80; and Payton only 1 in '77.
So given that BS was correct with his first guess but never got a chance with the revised (still incorrect) version, I'll give a point and a to you both. FF - you may have the honour of asking the next q ...

Why thankyou... I was about to pick numerous holes in your Q but this interminable machine is going painfully slow! Time to feed the mice again I think
A word of warning if you don't want me in the Trivia HoF any time soon (and I believe I am but one point away now)... don't ask questions on RB's... as an ex RB meself and now RB coach, I have a deeper interest in all things RB than anything else in football... particularly stats...
I know the next question... you'll see it when I can get this *%$£##@@+*% machine to co-operate!!!

Amfoot Trivia Question 0069
Bright Blue Shorts Posted Jan 29, 2003
Basic excuse comes down to me confusing Payton as the NFC's leading rusher from 77-80 with being the NFLs. And then totally ignoring the Christian Okoye factor. Had difficulty finding a decent web page with the NFC/AFC leaders head to head on an annual basis. Strangely this is one thing that NFL.com declines to have listed although I guess it is due to a belief that sales of the R&F would go down ...
