Blues Shark - For people who like this sort of thing, then this is just the sort of thing they'll like

Another QB question.

Up to the start of the 2002/03 season, name the Quarterback with the longest consecutive streak of passes thrown *without* an interception.

(I only add the disclaimer about the season just gone because Gannon may have taken this record, though I've not read about it...)

Gannon didn't take the record. I think the best he managed was about 170-in-a-row early on during the season.

Chad Pennington went about 240 passes (without interception) starting when he intercepted at the end of the MNF game in week 13 against the Raiders by Rod Woodson, and ending when he was interecepted in the divisional playoffs by the Raiders. I guess his regular season streak is still considered active, so if he gets off to a good start next year ...

Have to say for a 2nd-year QB Pennington looks like he could become one of the league's best.

Well, for a 3rd year QB... but you're probably right... so after years of having one of the best QB's of all time, Miami now have probably the worst in their division... I think you'd all agree that Brady, Bledsoe and Pennington have more ability... humph!

Look if Dilfer can win a SuperBowl, anybody can...

I really think the idea of superstar QB's is rather out of date. Teams that have done well have been ones that can both run *and* pass - Elway didn't win a SB until Denver got a running game.

And a lot of teams have done well by not upgrading QB's, but by upgrading the Wideouts. Warner showed signs of being all to human this human when he only had to main targets, not three...I haven't seen enough of hasselbeck to know, but I'd be perfectly willing to believe that the difference between his performance this year and his performance last year was down to health and having a vastly matured Koren Robinson to throw to.

Is Bledsoe really good enough? I had him in my fantasy team and for the first 10 weeks he was outstanding. For the last 6 weeks he was pretty awful. One week my backup, David Carr, outscored him!

I don't want to reopen the Miami discussion on this thread, but I'd say Jay is good enough. Not outstanding but with the surrounding cast, he can usually get the job done. It's a decent backup you need, and a sports psychologist that you need ...

Ummm, I'm not trying to degrade Fiedler, well, not much. I think I've made my opinions clear on him already and I don't think he is the problem in Miami... My reading over the last few days had me getting nostalgic over the 1980's and early 90's when great QB's were abundant and Miami still had one of the best... there's some kudos to having a great one on your team don't you think...

I'm still of the opinion Miami can win big with Fiedler and with more consistent play from the receivers and another year in Norvs system, he could even put up some good numbers...

Interestingly, I'd think Fiedler would do well in a west coast offence, and Turner is one of the few around now that doesn't run some variant of it...

Having said that, with Williams to take the pressure off, Fiedler should be more than adequate. As for kudos, well, yes, it's nice to have a star QB, but it's nicer to have a ring. Just ask any Buffalo fan...
