I've always wanted to know this about Birmingham...Why is Birmingham ignored by the media? Most nights after watching the midlands news,I find there are numorous reports from Shropshire,Staffordshire and now, Coventry is now included.I suspect it is the media estate agents advertising,
or complete bias by presenters.
Why are the new councill leaders not promoting there new aquisition or have they been bought off! Just a thought

Hi there folks, (And Z I've already posted this note to yer port - opps),

Don't know really how I found myself here ('tis a little scary...), and please do excuse me for butting in like this BUT I think you could really help us out, or know someone who could.

Well, I'm from 'Get Writing', (as you probably know), and a bunch of us are trying to organise a meet for all our members before the site folds on 31st March. As there are folk travelling from all over, (I'm from Northern Ireland,) we have chosen Birmingham as the ideal location.

So far we have about 40 plus interested, and we're aiming for either the last w'end of Feb or any of the following three in March this year.

Thing is, no one seems to be actually from Birmingham and we are not having much luck in securing a venue that could provide a 'private' room for us and with either lodgings on site or nearby.
(There are folk possibly coming from Brussels & Poland too).

Have you any suggestions or recommendations as this is a matter of urgency??

Would really appreciate any help or advice from you. I'll buy ye's a pint if I see ye - promise!

Many thanks,

Jen smiley - cheers

There are lots of venues that might meet your requirements - some are quite costly while others more reasonable.

Do you have an approximate budget in mind?

Well, it has now been arranged for 12th March, although some of us who are travelling from afar are booking in on the Friday. We're planning to meet in a place called the 'Old Joint Stock' but have yet to finalise any concrete details.

I could provide the neccesary links to the main discussion if you wish and you could post up yer name if you're game.

Thanks for the invite Jen - Unfortunately I will not be able to take you up on it. I do some stuff with a local (to me) drama club and I am stage managing a play that week

I hope you have a wonderful time

Cheers,

Might tell ye's all about it on return if I manage to remain sober enough and don't get barred!
We hope to have photos and possibly posting them up somewhere after. Keep an eye out.
