I'm afraid you're wrong, mathematically speaking two negatives when added still make a negative. They only make a posistive when multiplied.
Thus :a negative+a negative = a negative eg (-2) + (-3) = -5
a negative * a negative = a positive eg (-2) * (-3) = 6
