hi. while the bbc doesn't object to a small amount of quoting, there appears to be quite a bit in this entry.
it might be an idea to contact the italics and see what their opinion is about it.
having said that, it would be a pitty to lose any of it, it is such good stuff.

I believe that the usual rule on song lyrics is that fragments of songs are OK but complete songs are out. In that case, I should be able to get away with what's here, because the biggest chunk I've used is a third of a song - three of the nine stanzas of 'I Got It From Agnes'. Granted, there are a lot of song quotes, but most of them are fairly brief.
The comments and reminiscences from TL that I've quoted come from three different sources, none of which have copyright warnings on them. So I think I can probably get away with those too, as I haven't used a large portion of anyone else's text.
Right now Abi seems to be the only Italic online - the rest of 'em are probably already in party mode.
So rather than trying to make contact with the Towers now, I think I'll wait and see what the official reaction is if the Entry is recommended by a Scout.

I suddenly felt all festive just as my entry became ripe for picking! Surely you're not suggesting any ulterior motive, Gosho?

'So let the raucous sleighbells jingle,
Hail our dear old friend Kriss Kringle,
Driving his reindeer across the sky.
Don't stand underneath when they fly by.'
(Tom Lehrer, 'A Christmas Carol')

'Relations sparing no expense'll
Buy some useless old utensil
Or a matching pen and pencil
"Just the thing I need; how nice"'

On Christmas Day, you can't get sore;
Your fellow man, you must adore
There's time to rob him all the more
The other three-hundred-and sixty fouuuuuuurrr......

Hi Ormy,
Still not sure about the amount of lyrics we can quote here - for commercial material it's usually a line or two, not whole verses. But I see no reason for this enquiry to slow down the entry's acceptance.

Your Guide Entry has just been picked from Peer Review by one of our Scouts, and is now heading off into the Editorial Process, which ends with publication in the Edited Guide. We've therefore moved this Review Conversation out of Peer Review and to the entry itself.
If you'd like to know what happens now, check out the page on 'What Happens after your Entry has been Recommended?' at EditedGuide-Process. We hope this explains everything.
Thanks for contributing to the Edited Guide!

That has to be a pre-timed message... we all the know that the italics are, how shall we put it - on extended break
Well done on getting a thoroughly good entry picked

I hope you can keep most of the lyrics in. It's difficult to convey the true greatness of Tom Lehrer without them.
