Aha, about time you had my contribution.

I think that a good heading for my bit out to be something like:

'Community Spirit' or ''Caring for the community' or 'the Wider Community'

When Charlton came back to the Valley in 1993, it was just after the racist murder of youngster Stephen Lawrence and there were fears that the club would serve as a focus for racism. Together with Greenwich Council, the Club established the Charlton Athletic Race Equality (CARE) Partnership. This has been very successful indeed and in the 10 years since it was established the club and its supporters have gained an earned reputation against racism which has made if a very welcoming club and it has worked with businesses and the wider community on a variety of projects.

The club has one of the highest representations of black coaches in the country, something it's very proud of.

Charlton also have established a football in the community scheme, whcih delivers coaching to young people (both boys and girls) throughout the region. It also runs training courses for people wishing to become coaches.

It also works with disabled people and has a disability liaison officer and is actively looking to improve facilities for disabled people and to work with youngsters.

Charlton also supports the Women's Football Academy of the South East, working with players over 16 and looking to develop women both in their game and their personal development. In the Senior Women's game, striker Amanda Barr gained a Golden Boot award in 2003, having scored 17 goals in just 17 games in her first season with the club.
