Robin Comparison
SashaQ writes: Recently I went to RSPB Burton Mere and brought my camera as usual. I had been taking photos for about half an hour when I realised the camera was in Sunset Setting rather than Auto Mode. That explained why I had been struggling to photograph fast-moving birds, but also proved serendipitous when a friendly robin posed for me. The Sunset Setting helped to bring out the red of the robin's red breast, and created a warmer scene as the robin sat on a fence among ivy. A short time later, when the camera was in Auto Mode, another robin posed for me. The different camera setting created a much cooler scene.
It is also possible that the second robin looks greyer and less red because of being a different subspecies - some robins stay in the UK all year round, while others migrate from Scandinavia. The age of the birds may also influence the colour and size of the red bib. In any case, it is interesting to study the similarities and differences between the two robins that I met.
