A GOOD few year ago, I had a female cockatiel 
That I was given the 1st option of having from a neighbour
that she found in her garden as a fledgling being attacked by "local birds".
(The neighbour didn't want it)
That cockatiel was a family member for 15 yrsand when myself and my son had to be cruel to be kind (trip to vets) 
(as she went blind in both eyes) EVEN tough guys can shed a tear......
