Reminds me of a horror story I read many years ago (I read horror stories to make me shiver in very hot weather). This particular one was about a house on the edge of a swamp. The residents were told not to go near the swamp at night, but one of them ignored the warning. Giant slugs came out of the swamp and ate him.
