Redundant God?

Redundant God?

Adult and baby hands touching, with a blue butterfly

I was once their God

The Only One.

But time moved on

Those days are gone.

I was once their World

Their Sun, their Moon.

Those perfect years

Gone, way too soon.

Grown to adults,

partners, mothers

My place now filled

By godling others.

But still I yearn

For bygone days

Need to feel

Adoring gaze.

That fleeting age

Of truly needed

'Enjoy those years'

Words duly heeded.

Looking back

There's things I'd alter

But love for them

Will never falter.

Redundant God?

Now just a dad

Looking back

Proud, sad, but glad.

They're still my World,

My Moon, My Sun.

Still hurts to think

My Work is done.

Redundant God?

That's as it should

I see my kids,

Know that they are good.
