The little bit I know about reindeer/caribou amounts to their liking for lichens, and that they can starve if the ice on the ground is so thick that they can't dig for vegetation.

Hello! Yes - but luckily they have the antlers and the broad hooves to dig through the snow so in most cases they should be all right!
