Be on the lookout for the story of Nebraska's disappearance starting in January. It will feature a President who gets no respect from anybody. Eerily realistic! 
It has a happy ending. Arguably happier than the story you have just read, unless you're as much into trees as I am. I hope that one of Spot's approaches will be to quickly engineer his fast-growing trees to produce substitutes for the grains that will be in short supply as trees invade fields. Fruits, berries, and nuts already grow on trees, so why not bread? Ah, there['s breadfruit. Quick, Spot, engineer the breadfruit tree so that it grows in temperate zones, and comes presliced.
