I automatically counted the pins. Yep, they have the right number. Makes me think of "Hall of the Mountain King," where the gods are bowling

Do you have any particular objection, such as moral panic, to Nine-Pin Bowling? smiley - yikes
I heard that the reason ten pin bowling was invented in America was to get around laws passed about 200 years ago that banned Nine Pin Bowling, which was supposedly linked to laziness, gambling and crime (obviously an even number of pins cannot promote crime), but hadn't realised that it was still an issue.

smiley - rofl That's true about the tenpins. In Washington Irving's satirical story 'Rip van Winkle', a work-shy Dutch American in the Hudson Valley runs into the ghosts of Henry Hudson's crew, who get him drunk and play ninepins with him.

When he wakes up, it's 20 years later. (The satire is that he fell asleep in colonial New York and woke up in the early American republic.)

By the way, this artwork would go well in a Philadelphia park.

I took bowling in college, both tenpin and candlepin. There was no mention of nine pins. You don't need to know the entire history of a sport in order to play it in its current form. Especially when you're taking it as a course, and other varieties are not mentioned.

While you don't need to know the entire history of a sport to play it in one of its current forms, you did say 'I automatically counted the pins. Yep, they have the right number', assuming that the right number was ten - which only applies if the art is for ten pin bowling.smiley - shrug

Nowadays if you say skittles, people often think of the sweets.smiley - rainbow

This specific bowling alley is about 4 km's long. (just so you know)
Some spin may be required, because it is not entirely straight.
