We are going on a three week hike throught the French Alps.

Oh, I wish you good weather for that! My parents are currently in the Alps and there's supposed to be snow in the mountains tomorrow.

Hope for the best, prepare for the worst, is how I usually pack.

No snow has been predicted where I am going (so far). The higher passes on the route are beyond the current predictions, but there could be snow at 2700m.

I like your descriptions of the scenery - so vivid that even the lighting can be visualised
