There's what is called an asymmetry between the people who control the media and the people who work for those media or try to communicate through them. Fortunately, there may be competitors that victims can go to.

At least we aren't in Russia. It's not a perfect arrangement, but at least there are usually some media where good journalism is practiced.

Just like when trying to say that All lives matter gives me the feeling that I can't, because it dilutes the BLM slogan.

Equality doesn't mean: Let us be the bullies this time around. It should be: Let's try to show everyone how it should have been from the start. All equal, no exceptions.

Tomorrow we have elections for the provincial government. The tricky bit is that the national distribution of votes also determines the composition of the upper chamber of Parliament, so the nationally active parties are campaigning as if the provincial government doesn't exist.

This morning I heard a radio ad from one of the right wing parties stating something like: 'are you in favour of the farmers and against immigration' as if farmers and immigrants were mutually exclusive things. Then followed a list of things that an unsuspecting listener might sort of want to happen (lower taxes, of course). The thing I was missing from their soundbites was an actual plan. The ad also failed to mention that their leader is a Qanon/lizard people/Putin fan.

You know, the problem is less that they have crazy ideas than that they're clueless about how government works in the first place.

While everybody's busy yelling at them for their latest outrageous proposal, it's easy to overlook the fact that they forget to renew the law that prevents some catastrophe or or.

Case in point: certain laws were allowed to lapse through oversight (or bribery) that have recently caused two train derailments (and a toxic situation) and a bank collapse. smiley - rolleyes
