Is it a downer? To be honest the plot doesn't really have much in the way of intentions, more a case of what seems to be a good (or challenging) idea at the time.

I never considered that the death of a fictional character who has never actually appeared as a living fictional character who said or did anything would have an impact. She's just a line drawn by a 
, nothing more than a mark on paper.
