It fascinates me to think that people the age of my great-great-grandparents could have known people who remembered the Revolution. It's like people hold hands across time and provide continuity.

Some people come from long-lived families who marry late, and have long spans between generations. The late money manager Phil Carret (1896-1998) was the grandson of Napoleon's quartermaster.
