Do you find the 1840s intriguing enough that you'd want to go back and live in them for a week or two?

Just part of life back then. smiley - laugh And yes, I read, 'In 1844, it snowed in June.' smiley - rofl The latest I've seen it in my lifetime is May. But wouldn't you have hated 1816?

The panther and snake stories? Also true in the sense that they happened to somebody. (The rattler-killing five-year-old was a male cousin of mine. His mother fainted when he showed her the snake.)

Krakatoa blew up in 1816. I'm glad I wasn't living then, too.

An even worse eruption may have happened in 535 -- Ilopango in central America?

The world can be a dangerous place, for sure.

Snakes are probably among the least of our worries.

Mount Tambora. (Not Krakatoa, that was 1883.)
