A nice-looking church. I haven't seen many Baptist churches, so I can't judge this one, but it's attractive....

This isn't a Baptist church. It's a Methodist church.

However, its design is typical of mid-19th-century churches in this area. I think it's the German influence. You might think you were in eastern Germany. smiley - smiley

There's one in the same area called 'Old Zion'. And another, equally old, called 'New Zion'.

Oh, and thanks for drawing my attention to an editorial error - the church is in WEST Freedom, PA. (My brain went on an unauthorised vacation.)

There is a New Freedom, but it's 250 miles away in York County, PA. smiley - laugh

I don't know how to respond to that. I've known and liked some baptists. The church buildings do not see weird to me.

smiley - laugh I don't think the buildings are weird, either. And I'm glad you like Baptists.

However, the Snack Food Capital of the World, York County, is an odd place. Among other things, there was a persistent belief in witches into the 1920s.

Ever heard of Hex Hollow?

I've been to Lancaster County, which is next to York County. There are Amish in Lancaster. I don't know how well they get along with Baptists.

smiley - rofl Pretty well, usually.

Ancient, ancient Pennsylvania joke.

A Quaker farmer was milking his cow. The cow kept hitting him with her tail, which annoyed the farmer no end.

Finally, he said, 'Friend Cow, thee knowest that I cannot curse thee, nor beat thee. But I can sell thee to a Baptist!'
