Great! Looking forward to it.
Everybody who's in: when we're ready to go, post your story homepage here.

My homepage for the project 'Coming of Age in Brookville' is at A88002092. The introduction is sort of provisional, but the tale should at least cover those topics.

Recently Googled "unknown civilisations". This turned up some late bronze age remains of structures in the northwestern Caucasus which had me mystified. I am currently researching the period and things known / hypothesised to see if I can make anything out of it. It appears to be "cradle of current western civilisation" stuff.
My intention is to go for it.

I hope my story is not going to be banned, because it contains SHOCK HORROR both sex and violence!

My story has some violence...and violence to bears, bigots, and even a murder. But everyone is pretty reticent, sexually...odd, because there are so many children about... They just don't talk about it.

Our kids refer to anything remotely sex related as "chapter four" (as in chapter four of their biology book last year (procreation)).

Given the electoral season, I would like to take a poll on one decision I will have to take before really getting off writing:
First person or Third person perspective.
I used First person last year. This allows for more in depth information on thought processes of a main character but lacks a bit in the opportunities to add background information (unless using second person perspective on others).
Third person might be more suitable to elaborate on the "Hole in history" theme (but I'm not sure about that, it might loose some texture).
So. What will it be? Vote ONE or THREE
(in case of a draw I wil have to find a way to make second person perspective work or take it to the court).
Polling starts NOW. (I'll see what we have in 24 hours time)

I vote third person, definitely. Not only for the reason you state, but for readability: it's easy to lose sight of it when you're writing, but readers often find first-person narrators terribly self-absorbed.
[Second-person's a real challenge, but could be done. ]
There's another decision you have to make that's related to this:
How much to tell. Meaning: do you limit your story to what your characters could reasonably know, or do you, as omniscient observer, let the reader in on what the characters don't know?
