The spider has an advantage. It makes silk.
If a goldfinch finds blue chicory or Echinacea or other suitable plants in late June, it can make a nest.
if not, I don't know what it does. Would it use straw or other sutitutes?

I would like to see fewer traffic jams and less pollution, and for a while during the lockdown, this happened. Now the cars are back. But, of course, the lockdown came at the cost of the loss of many people's jobs. 
What we need is a society where the jobs are in less polluting businesses. But is that wishing on a 
?

It surprises me that some spiders would build webs in places where you wouldn't expect many insects to go. But, they have survived by doing what works.
