The corn in the picture is probably higher than a young elephant's eye. smiley - smiley

But I know what you mean. Oscar Hammerstein wasn't being literal. Elephant was more elegant than "cow pony," so he used elephant. smiley - smiley

Which reminds me of the introduction to the Hippopotamus song by Flanders and Swann. Mr. Flanders said that some people thought the song was irrelevant, "but it's not irrelevant. it's irhippopotamus."

(There are way too many assorted factoids in my head. Is it any wonder I sometimes get confused? smiley - winkeye

I like to watch corn grow. That probably marks me as somewhat weird, but let me add this: your corn is doing better than the corn I grew several years ago.

Corn is one of two food crops (potatoes being the other) that maximizes the number of edible calories from a given piece of land. Granted, you need to water and fertilize and hope for good weather (no hailstones the size of bowling balls smiley - yikes.

There are maybe billions of people who live hand to mouth. So, corn and potatoes (and maybe soybeans) are what they go to in the hope of feeding themselves.

Moe power to you for growing the Three Sisters this year smiley - applause.
