I've grown courgettes, which do pretty well if you can protect them from slugs.
I once grew a butternut squash by accident - it just turned up among the courgettes smiley - smiley. It grew to be a decent size, but it didn't ripen properly. Not warm enough in the UK.

We call courgettes 'zucchini'. And they grow like mad. There's an unofficial holiday begun in Pennsylvania called National Sneak Some Zucchini onto Your Neighbor's Porch Day. It's 8 August. smiley - laugh

I used to go around my neighborhood giving away zucchini.

Didn't grow any this year.
