In that area there are mostly fields and no trees. I actually think it has its own charm, but for the animals more trees would certainly be better, you are right.

This is a frequent sight in northern Mississippi - where there are lots of big fields of cotton, corn, etc. The lone tree - or small stand of trees - is really welcome in the hot summer.
This kind of photo is not only elegant visually, but illustrates a way of life through a glimpse of the landscape.

Yes, that sounds about right. You get fields, fields and fields, drive up a low hill, down a low hill, up a low hill... and in between you'll go through the middle of a small village.

It reminds me of various battle movie scenes where one lone knight crests the hill. Followed by the rest of the huge army ten seconds later. Maybe there's a forest just waiting to attack.
