They seem to sing their sad songs in the morning, so maybe "morning" is a pun on "mourning."

I don't think we have that kind of dove over here.

We do have the type that hangs on to twigs that are too thin in order to get to our cherries before we do. This leads to some extraordinary poses, which I failed to picture so far (unfortunately)

My parents lived in North Carolina for a while, and there are a lot of fruit-stealing birds there. However, their damson plum trees were perfectly safe. They got all the yummy fruit to make jam with.

Why? Damson plums are too tart for birds. smiley - rofl

I hope you get a photo for us sometime. Sorry about the cherries. smiley - cheerup

That may be true of ours as well, but i mostly remember them as singing in the morning or early afternoon.
