All I know about Shiloh is that it was where a Civil War battle was fought.

But South Carolina has a Shiloh Methodist Church, a wooden structure wich doesn't look like the church in the photo.

And there's also a reconstructed Shiloh Church, which looks like neither f the above.

And Pennsylvania has some Shiloh churches, in Easton and Danville at least.

Solid picture. Nice lighting.

It is a good primer for explaining basic geometrical shapes. Plenty of (half-) circles, triangular roof, rectangular tower.

Hey, good thought there, CRE. I can see you think pedagogically. smiley - rofl

It's called Richardsonian Romanesque, after some American lunatic who revived Romanesque architecture, but wasn't, erm, a purist about it. smiley - laugh

Paul, this church is on the road out of Hooverville toward the Misty Mountains State Park. smiley - laugh

I think thinking pedagogically is kind of contagious in my surroundings.

smiley - laugh Family business, I see. What's your wife's specialty?

I taught languages for years (in between other odd jobs), one of my sisters was a physics teacher, her husband an Earth Science teacher, and the other sister taught music. Very funny, because nobody in either of our parents' families had ever done anything of the sort, being farmers, mechanics, engineers, etc.

My nephew's teaching physics now, and coaching robotics teams. smiley - laugh I think it's become, er, a tradition. The next generation is considering it.

My wife is training for Primary school teacher (preferably the bit before adolescence kicks in). My father: Maths / Religion / Dean. My mother: Primary school. Father in law: Primary school (head master), Mother in law: PE.

Unfortunately we already have two of those in-house with home schooling.
From next week they will be going back to school for some days a week though.

Some people try to avoid adultescence as well. Tom Lehrer joked that he wanted to go directly form adolescence to senility without passing through adulthood.
