This Entry is dedicated to Dmitri, who caused me to learn why Hyacinth Bucket calls a mug a beaker. I had great fun researching this Entry, and hope I managed to capture that in my writing smiley - biggrin

I must admit I didn't really watch this series - the opening episode seemed fine and dandy, but after that I found it formulaic and repetitive, so I felt that as I'd seen one episode I didn't really need to watch any more. To me, Judy Cornwell will always be Mrs smiley - santa

You've said there were 44 episodes - wow many series were there? Were they all the standard half hour and did they do any Christmas specials?

One thing I'd consider mentioning is that 'Bouquet' is not the standard pronunciation of Bucket - for example, Charlie Bucket from 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory'.

Of course 'Open All Hours' (1973-1985) starred Ronnie Barker with David Jason, but 'Still Open All Hours' (2013+) starring David Jason is still written by Roy Clarke. You've got to hand it to him smiley - applause, he really is prolific.

Thanks for reading <BB< smiley - ok

Excellent points smiley - ok I have updated the introduction to include the standard pronunciation of 'Bucket' and details of the 5 series. I have added in mention of Mrs smiley - santa. And I have expanded the conclusion a tad to emphasise how prolific Roy Clarke is smiley - applause

smiley - ok

smiley - ta - Thanks, I've had another read through and was puzzled by your mention of Netflix. The BBC & ITV have launched jointly launched their own online streaming service, BritBox, and been trying to either buy back their popular shows they've sold to other platforms or have stated they will not renew contracts in order to keep key shows for BritBox. It looks like 'Keeping Up Appearances' was used to launch/promote BritBox in the US - so is it definitely on Netflix in the UK? http://www.mirror.co.uk/3am/celebrity-news/britbox-recruits-keeping-up-appearances-20884670

Thanks <BB<

It was originally on Netflix, but not any more, as you say. 'Internet streaming service' tasted too bland to me, so I was trying to give an example, but the example just made it more confusing. I see now that 'internet streaming service' is enough of a well-known phrase these days, so I left it at that smiley - ok

This has nothing to do with your fine entry, but last night we watched 'If It's Tuesday, It Must Be Belgium' (1969). Patricia Routledge showed up in that, dragging American tourists around through the Victoria & Albert. She waved a little US flag and urged them to 'rally round'. smiley - rofl That voice could be used for a foghorn.
