A Conversation for Colours of Wildlife: Flowers of the Wolkberg Part 1

This really gives me Spring fever....

What an abundance of beautiful blossoms, Willem!

I ordered all my seeds a couple weeks ago, and they've arrived. There's no point in growing any on my windowsill before late March, though. They will sprout and try to grow, but the stems will become super-elongated as they stretch toward the insufficient sun coming through the window. In l;ate late April it might be warm enough during the day so I can put them on the porch, but they'll have to come inside every night....

Hello! I'm happy that you're enjoying these flowers. There are more to come!

Yes and over here, we're now heading towards autumn. We've had a very unusually cold February. But I think my plants will still have a month or two of growth to go before winter …

What seeds did you order?

Those sound cool!

Did you know a kind of Zinnia is a serious weed here in South Africa? Zinnia peruviana initially from South America was brought here since it looks pretty but has escaped and invaded a heck of a lot of wild country. It's all over the place here around Polokwane, in the millions. We call it 'Jakobregop' ('Upright James') because of its straight, tall stems.
