Is there a Krishna Hare? ;-)

The subject line is a joke, but your article is very informative smiley - ok.

It surprised me to learn that the hare in question literally eats s**t. I won't hold that against it. I couldn't do anything about ti even if I did. smiley - erm

Some of our local rabbits are pests during Coneflower season, but the hares in South Africa would be no threat, as they are probably hibernating during May and June. Oh, yes, that's right, the northern and southern temperate zones have different growing seasons. smiley - blush

The digestive system of your hare sounds like a winner -- producing B vitamins on the first pass through the digestive system, getting nutrients form the coarsest of vegetation. Throw in very fast hopping and flexibility of breeding times, and I can imagine that this creature will be around for a good while to come. smiley - smiley

If I thought of that pun I'd have tried to somehow work it into the article!

Glad you liked it!

We need to keep resilient animals like that in our consciousness if hard times force us to look for nourishment. Not that hares and rabbits would be easy to catch. Except round here, where some of them let you walk right up and touch them...

(I sometimes have to work hard just to scare them enough to make them head for cover. smiley - erm)
