Ghosts I'm okay with. Werewolves can inhabit the pages of my fictional magna opera as long as they occasionally let my main characters pet them or play fetch amicably.

But vampires and zombies? Dmitri, I can't ever figure out why these creatures ought to exist, except to be spoofed in films like "Zombieville" or "Hotel Transylvania." I don't like to see blood, so imagine how yucky I find vampire movies to be.

Zombies are things that won't die, which might be somewhat interesting if they weren't also killing machines. So, your main characters are going to spend much of their time bashing or shooting or spearing the zombies. That's got to get repetitive. Why annoy your reader with that kind of redundancy? There are more amusing ways to annoy the one reader who can't get out of reading what you've written smiley - evilgrin.
