Taking this shot at an angle, and including the shadow, provides nice tonal contrast and brings out the details in what would otherwise be a flat grey image.

I loved all these stone animals. First, because without the photos, I wouldn't have known they were there. Second, because each one has such character. The horse has such solidity that one itches to touch it. Thanks for sharing, BobI!

This photo reminds me of P F Chang's restaurant in Dedham, Mass. There are four horses in front of the restaurant. You can see one of the horses here:
