FWR:

Loved the way the silhouettes of the roof top and the tree had their outlines highlighted by the setting sun. Black and white emphasised this subtle limning effect more than a colour shot.

DG: What the man said. I love the way the tree looms above the building.

Is that a plane tree on the left? Istanbul is famous for its plane trees.

Never was a shade
of any plant
dearer and more lovely,
or more sweet.

Beautiful! Handel had real respect for plants. Just see what he did for Semele. smiley - ok

Absolutely. They would do it slowly, of course.

I once heard a radio broadcast of a 1972 performance of "Semele" starring Beverly Sills. She was so fantastic that I get goosebumps just thinking about it. Alas, she had a short period at the top of her game. By 1975 she was already losing her edge.

That is amazing how the black and white brings out the limning - very atmospheric. Impressive detail in the silhouettes, too, with the leaf textures and the light shining through the buildings smiley - magic
